Modus Operandi

General Objectives

  1. The Section for Political Communication of ECREA aims to be an open, flexible and academically engaging forum for the exposure and the critical debate of currently produced research across Europe. It also aims to contribute towards academic bonding and the building up of a firm trans-European research community and the upholding of high research standards.

Membership

  1. The Political Communication section consists of ECREA members who participate in its works and conference sessions with some regularity, by:

  1. Responding to calls for papers, participating in the research and academic debate during section sessions at conferences. Attendance of the business meetings of the section – held at each conference – which are usual manifestations of preference for the section and of active participation and support, that we welcome.

  2. Contributing original or novel proposals of networking and cooperation - such are particularly welcome and encouraged.

  1. The business meetings of the section are open to all interested ECREA members who have also a right to vote. Non-ECREA members may attend the Political Communication Section business meetings, but without any right to vote.

Leadership

  1. The Section chair and vice-chairs are responsible for the operation of all the activities of the section and for the fulfillment of its obligations, particularly, in regard of organising section sessions at conferences. They serve for a period of two years.

a. The chair and vice-chairs are accountable to

  1. its own membership, notably, during the regular business meetings,

  2. the board of ECREA, and

  3. to the general assembly.

b. The business meeting of the section, as the primary decision-making body,

  1. discusses current trends in the field and proposes topics of interest for oncoming conferences,

  2. it assesses completed conference sessions.

  3. it can propose other initiatives conducive towards the general objectives of the section or other network projects, for instance publications, and

  4. decides about the new leadership of the section every two years following submission of nominations for candidates electronically.
